How to install the OnPiste Chrome extension
Installing OnPiste
OnPiste can be installed from the Chrome Web Store or manually from GitHub releases.
Install from Chrome Web Store (Recommended)
The easiest way to install OnPiste:
- Visit the OnPiste Chrome Web Store page
- Click "Add to Chrome"
- Confirm the installation when prompted
- The OnPiste icon will appear in your browser toolbar
Note: The Chrome Web Store version may be slightly behind the latest release due to the review process.
Install Manually from GitHub
For the latest features and updates:
Step 1: Download
- Go to the OnPiste GitHub releases page
- Download the latest
onpiste.zipfile - Unzip the file to a location on your computer
Step 2: Load Extension
- Open Chrome and navigate to
chrome://extensions/ - Enable Developer mode (toggle in the top right)
- Click "Load unpacked" (top left)
- Select the unzipped
onpistefolder
The extension is now installed!
Initial Configuration
After installation:
- Click the OnPiste icon in your toolbar to open the side panel
- Click the Settings icon (gear icon in the top right)
- Add your LLM API keys (see LLM Configuration)
- Choose which models to use for different agents
Upgrading
Chrome Web Store Version
Updates are automatic. Chrome will update the extension in the background.
Manual Installation
- Download the latest
onpiste.zipfrom GitHub - Unzip and replace your existing OnPiste files
- Go to
chrome://extensions/ - Click the refresh icon on the OnPiste card
Troubleshooting
Extension doesn't appear
- Make sure you're using Chrome or Edge
- Check that the extension is enabled in
chrome://extensions/ - Try restarting your browser
Side panel not opening
- Click the OnPiste toolbar icon
- Right-click the icon and select "Open Side Panel"
- Check browser permissions
API keys not saving
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection
- Try disabling and re-enabling the extension
- Check browser console for errors
